Memorial Day Events and Activities

Join us in remembering and honoring fallen friends and loved ones that have served our beautiful country. Here are some things that you can typically find in Morristown, NY on Memorial Day weekend.

Memorial Day Ceremony

A Memorial Day ceremony is typically held at the Morristown Veterans Memorial, where local veterans and community leaders pay tribute to those who have given their lives in service to the country. In 2023, the service was held Monday, May 29th at 10:00am in Chapman Park (located off Morris St. next to the Stone Windmill).

Memorial Day Parade

In the past Morristown has hosted a Memorial Day parade to honor veterans and those who have lost their lives in service to the country. The parade typically includes marching bands, floats, and veterans groups. There was no memorial day parade in 2023.

Fishing, Boating and Outdoor Recreation

Memorial Day weekend is really the first official opportunity to get together and enjoy outdoor activities, such as picnics and barbecues (weather permitting), but how could we forget the river? Being located at the gateway to the Thousand Islands, we have some of the best fishing on the planet. Don't forget to refer to statewide fishing regulations, as well as special regulations specific to St. Lawrence County.  If you can't get out on the water, there is still plenty to do between walking or biking around town, or hiking in The Red Barn Preserve and Jacques Carties State Park!
