Preparing For Hiking Trail #2

Tree stumps along the proposed trail are not a problem when you have the right equipment.  George Cosler and Jeff Swift are quick to get the job done

Materials for the new boardwalk arrive.  Once again George Cosler shows up with his backhoe to move pallets of materials to the construction site.

On May 23rd The Town of Morristown Highway Department arrived to begin construction of a 300 foot long boardwalk.  This construction was part of Trail #2 at the Red Barn Preserve. The boardwalk provides excellent views of the ponds and wildlife.

On May 23rd BOCES sent in students and instructors to finish off the new hiking trail by building a 50 foot boardwalk over a small stream at the end of the trail.

Channel 7 news out of Watertown captured this BOCES story and broadcast it on the evening news. ( You can watch the story by going to the home page of this website and clicking on the link under "Current Events"

It is now late June and all the plants and trees are showing their bright green colors- It is a perfect time to be outdoors !

Dr Jessica Rogers and Intern Nolan Richie eliminate Pale Swallow Wart plants along one of the trails.  This invasive species originally came from southeast Russia

Graphic Signs have been installed on the Hiking trail kiosk
