Hello every one. I have been absent for a few months from providing written updates about the Museum. As we can get closer to “Normal” -I have added a Preliminary Events schedule to the Events Tab on the home page that outlines our ambitious plans for 2021.
On Saturday May 29th we are planning on providing an Open House and Arts Festival at the Red Barn Preserve. The museum volunteers and contractors have worked for three years to renovate the farm house and finally have finished most of the work on the place. We will conduct tours of the house (while practicing social distancing). To add to this excitement we have hired local artists and craftsmen to display their trades on the lawns adjacent to the house. More details will be provided as we get closer to the event.
Planning for two fund raisers are underway- the annual garage sale on Saturday June 19th as well as our golf tournament on Saturday July 3rd. Last year’s golf event held at homes along River Road East was very popular and we hope to add even more interest by redesigning some of the holes.
Our summer concert series is alive and well we have scheduled Paul Myers World on a Sting Trio to appear at Bayside park on Monday evening July 19th and the Atkinson Family Band at Bayside Park on Monday August 16th.
We have scheduled two Volunteer days for working on the Red Barn Preserve trails- Saturday June 12th and Saturday Sept 18th. In addition to our normal cleanup and raking wood chips we have order 45 trees to be planted. We are hoping our new trees can replace the losses of trees that we suffered from Beaver activity and the Ash Borer attacks.
It is our hope that we can open the downtown museum location to enable our guests to revisit the interesting displays. We have penciled in July 4th for the opening. The museum will remain open on Wednesdays 9am-1pm, Saturday 9am-1pm and Sundays 1pm to 4pm. We will close for the season on Saturday Sept 25th.
While our schedule does not currently show Yoga classes- talks are underway to bring back this popular program. More on this as it is firmed up.
